Hi
I’ve, foolishly it seems, dived in to various social media ms groups but they seem to be dominated by the “you’ve got this” or “prayer always helps” brigade; usually American with rather right-of-centre views about ‘socialised medicine’
Tiggering, as they don’t get ppms either.
Anyone else experienced similar? (They really don’t get British sense of humour..)

Ugh, that sounds very unhelpful!
i’m not personally of the view that prayer helps serious autoimmune conditions, but hey, what do I know?!!

They say that you can become the company you keep, so I should give those boyos a wide berth if I were you CP.

By all means keep reading up on what you’ve got going on but, it sounds like you could do with being selective of who you chose to interact with online. The internet is full of great information but, it’s also full of nutters. I don’t see prayer helping you out too much but, I think a positive mindset and surrounding yourself with good people who’s company you enjoy can help to lift your mood and help to make you feel happier while you’re having a rough time.
Take care x
Jon.

Thanks all.
America/USA strikes me as a much more ablist ecosystem than the UK; the whole culture/ethos of the place seems hostile to disabled folk. Especially the Trump/Maga parts.
I think the whole prayer thing is just a psychological displacement mechanism; they daren’t explore what fundamental system change actually means in practice (…’socialised medicine’, anyone…

Worth remembering that the USA is a massive and varied country also that the UK has its share of e.g the anti vax, Covid denying , anti ‘big pharma treatments’ people as well. It takes all sorts! Best to ignore them

Been thinking further about this and who knows but those who truly pray and are at peace with their God(s) might be on to something. It would be interesting to know if and how prayer, like deep meditation, has an impact on the immune system- keeping it calm and similarly in avoiding stress induced relapses. Combine that with a calm and healthy lifestyle and who knows.
P.S I’m not talking about praying by the hell , fire and brimstone to all non believers ,infidels, sinners etc etc type but those whose prayers are more to do with love, peace and the like.

Ah it’s just their way. Was a Sunday School teacher at like 14 my mum was involved. Probably “weak agnostic” now but most religious people I’ve met have been sound (that’s all types).
PPMS also you got this bro!
