terminology help please!

Hello all, got my results letter today - all as per my recent consultation so no nasty surprises or anything like that. But there are a couple of things I don’t really understand, so wondering if you can help.

Have been referred to MS clinic (though I dont’ have MS- yet - just CIS/TM) and for another “FU brain MRI” in January. Anyone know what the FU stands for there? (no luck with google!)

On my brain scan report I have a “possible lesion involving the dorsal aspect of the cervicomedullary junction in the left paramedian aspect abutting the obex”. I know that there are MS- areas of the brain and non-MS areas - do any of you know which that is?

Very grateful …

Clare

Maybe it means full in shorthand?

Anyone know about the cervicomedullary junction?

  • This is just under brainstem at the back part just under the medulla - basically junction of where spine and brainstem join. I’ve put a link with a pic that shows it

eee, eckythump! What a load of gobbledeegook, eh?

If you are still confused by the wording, then speak to your GP about it, yeh?

Thanks Reemz, so do you know if that is an “MS-area” of the brain?

On second thoughts - no need to answer that! It must be …

Still, it’s only a ‘possible’ lesion - might have been ‘artifactual’ apparently - love the lingo (not) - though I’m a lawyer so I’m probably twice as bad

Is there a list of MS areas of the brain anywhere as I have brain lesions?
