Strange question

I have my neuro appointment on Friday.

There are loads of things worrying me about my appointment, but here’s the current one.

What did you wear to your appointment?

I can see me there in my knickers, being really embarrassed, I know its just a little thing but is is another worry for me at the moment.

Thanks/

Something you feel both confident and comfortable in! I don’t think the neuro will worry! Teresa xx

I’ve never yet had to undress for a neuro appointment!

Definitely wasn’t left standing there in my undies. I’m pretty sure I’ve always worn jeans, but my jeans are “bootleg” style, so it’s possible to roll them up to check reflexes at knee and ankle. They might have had to come off, if they’d been straightleg.

Maybe try a loose skirt, that can easily be hitched up, whilst still preserving your modesty?

Thank you both, thats quite comforting Tina, I will report back on the knicker/no knicker result :-)))

Hi Rhony - my letter from my appointment with the neuropsychologist says ‘…appropriately dressed, well kempt lady…’ so I think your clothes do matter in how seriously they take you. I’d go in something medium smart - not a suit for office and not slobs but something inbetween. Skirt, tights and boots if you’re comfy in them, then you can take the boots and tights off for reflexes but still have a skirt on. Good luck for Friday. xx

Thank you, I am going to a meeting for work before my appointment so will be smart anyway, but I am a great believer in dressing well, it makes you feel better about yourself and Im sure I walk an inch taller and am more confident when well dressed.

(BTW my app is 70 miles away, so I arranged the work meeting for the same day, dont have to take the day off, and they pay my car fuel)

First appt, many years ago, it was a thorough neuro exam so down to bra and knickers. I had decided to wear the kind of underwear my mother would have approved of, just in case, and I’m glad I did although I don’t suppose the neuro or the nurse would have been bothered either way. It is one of those things that matters to us but not to them. That is the one and only time that taking clothes off has been involved! TBH I still wear sensible pants to consultations just in case! (Not that I don’t always, obviously.) Alison x

Thanks Alison, yes I know what you mean, I have the boy short type, they are fine.

I remember years ago forgetting I was going for a chiropractor session, I popped into New Look, picked up a pair of black boy short type knickers, changed in the toilets at my appointment and let the man do his stuff.

Took them off at night to see they had BABE written in huge letters across the bum, I was about 48 at the time, the shame!!!

HILARIOUS!!! I love that - has made me chuckle this grey morning

that made me chuckle too!!

i didnt have to take anything off any my neuro appt, just my boots

In the past though, i have had many appts for bowel related issues, and it was a standing joke between me & my husband that i had my knickers off within 10 minutes of getting through the door and meeting a strange man

Sometimes the only way to get through these sorts of things is with humour!

Nowt wrong wi bein a 48 year old BABE. …bet it cheered the chiropractor`s day up. Maybe he still thinks about it!
