Stella s' ordeal

Like many of us l have been following Stellas stem cell treatment. Hoping that this was going to be the ‘Holy Grail’ for us pwms. The latest developement - after her losing her hearing - was she had to have some of her toes and fingers amputated because of a type of gangrene. l just can’t believe what they have put this dear soul through. She obviously did not go into it knowing what the ‘journey’ would entail. -When you see her at the start - that lovely smiling face - so full of hope. And we were all behind her sending our encouraging comments. She needs - and deserves - all our hopes and prayers to recover from her ordeal. So do the doctors and nurses who are looking after her. And of course her family and friends. So lets join together and send all our best wishes and love to this courageous lady. So lots of love - hugs - and kisses to you Stella.

love and best wishes to you and your family stella. xxx

Yes I’ve been reading Stella’s blog too - she has really had a rough time but what a diamond her husband is. Wishing you and your family well and I’m hoping the treatment will have positive side effects. B x

I, too, am sending many positive thought and good wishes xx

Hello. Sorry, but I dont know who Stella is. Are you saying she lost fingers and toes due to experimentation? Or have I got it all wrong. Whichever, Id like to add my best wishes to Stella too. luv Pollx

Hi Poll, Stellas had stem cell treatment, and she got a really bad infection, and was in intensive care for weeks, and very nearly lost her life, shes had to have some fingers removed due to gangarine, and shes also lost most of her hearing, due to the intensive treatment she had to endure just to save her life,Stella does a blog on the msrc site, and squiffy who runs the site, has kindly been coming on to update us of her condition, pleased to say shes finally out of intensive care now. jaki xx

Hi all - what a shocking and total nightmare this has turned into for Stella - I’m sure that I am one among many msers who was really routing for her and this treatment. How badly it has gone so far, however, hope it not lost, fortunately she is surrounded by a very supportive friends and family - keep strong, there are hundreds of us out here wishing you all the very best, love Suzanne xx

So was the amputation caused thru the stem cell experiments then? I remember something similar a few years ago. I used to think I would be up for trials…but no ta! luv Pollx

The amputation Stella had to have, was because she had sepis, caused by an infected hickman line she had to have for the stem cell treatment ,so it poisened her whole body , and this caused her vital organs to start shutting down, and her circulation was affected, which led to the gangarene, thats why she had to have some of her fingers amputated, poor girl.

For Those of you who havent read Stella’s blog … please do so. You will find that Stella has a great sense of humour & the love she & mark share is amazing. Stella is a fighter & one of the strongest people I have known. http://www.msrc.co.uk/index.cfm/fuseaction/show/pageid/3181

Hi, Marc, Stella’s husband has added a new post to her blog, you can read it at Cosmetic Surgery & Plastic Surgery Specialists | Flawless

What kind of cell treatment did Stella have and where about? There are so many charlatans making money out of peoples misery.
I Send my best to stella

Does anybody know how she’s doing now??

She had HSCT in Nottingham on the nhs

I was trying to find out when I saw this thread come up again. And I can’t find any reference to her in the last few years. But if anyone does know, please, please, let us know. Stella is/was an absolute star, a warrior in the field who risked everything to try to halt her MS. I have the utmost respect for her and for Marc. Absolute strangers to me, yet they don’t feel like that after reading her HSCT blog.

Sue

I followed Stellas HSCT journey but have not heard how she is now, I would love to know., I wonder if ‘squiffy’ is still on here, and wonder if he knows how Stella is.I would love to know if she is doing ok i really hope she is because she went to hell and back having the HSCT.

I remember reading a couple of years ago that Stella had returned to work, but that was about it.
