Last night was one of many when sleep was at a premium. Nevertheless, my mind was all over the place and this popped into it.
Burning
The legs aflame
In motion and repose
The feet of ice
And stony indifference
The eyes of the crowd
As we lumber and lurch
One uncertain step to another.
A desire for respect
And understanding.
The issue of right
And true respect.
The question of why
And how.
Ambition to rise
And conquer the beast.
The candle of hope
Forever the reason
To fight on.
