Silly me

I’m such a silly lady, I always ro to the hospital but never tell the neuro how i’m really feeling or what all my symptoms are. I think it’s because his an asian man and i’m an Indian lady, weird I know.

So i’ve found his e-mail address and am going to e-mail him it all.

am I nuts? Need your opinions please.

Hi there, I know the feeling of not really getting full value from your neuro appointments but I don’t think it’s racial thing because mine is a white woman (as am I) and very pleasant but I don’t always say everything I want to.

Now this is just my opinion but my feeling is that you shouldn’t email him with a laundry list of your symptom unless you have an appointment due very soon. I am not sure what you expect to achieve but at best your email will be printed and popped into your file to deal with later. That day’s appointments will take precedence.

What I would suggest is to write the list in a word document – print it off and take it to your next appointment. You can either use the list as an aide memoire or give it to the neuro to read.

My experience of many years of MS is that your symptoms are more important to you than anyone else. I personally try to research each one as the need arises and have an idea if there is a medication that might help. I have found that my GP is much more receptive to discussions and intervention at this level than the nero -they seem to like a broad overview. I personally like to take charge of my condition and don’t hand it over to the neuro gods to make decisions. If I want physio for example I ask for it.

Agree with Jane, I think an email will either be ignored or filed away on your notes. It is however very useful to attend appointments with a list of symptoms their dates and medication. This helps you not to forget to mention something and also the opportunity for the neuro to see quite clearly how you have been, I usually have one copy of these lists to keep at home and leave the other one for the doc to file in my notes or whatever…

Hi, I might be suggesting the impossible here, but is there any chance you could see a female neuro? I know good neuros are like gold dust, but perhaps there is a lady one in the same hospital, or in another not too far away hospital.

I understand different cultures have different feelings. Nothing wrong with that.
