Hello - I’ve been having a lot of pain through my bottom and down my leg but not down the back as you would expect with sciatica (which I thought it was at first) but coming round further towards the front of my leg. I took gabapentin to see if it helped and it has, not entirely but quite well - does anyone know if this means it’s a neuropathic pain in my leg or if gabapentin helps all types of pain?
Dx
Gabapentin can help spasms as well as neuropathic pain, but as far as I know it doesn’t help “normal” pain (e.g. headache, sore muscles, etc).

Consider also that too much Gabapentin can (yes, that is “can”, not “will”) lead to fatigue.
I picked this off a leaflet in the carton when my local pharmacy were switching between Neurontin and a generic, and the leaflets have now omitted mention of fatigue. When I rang my MS nurse, she knew all about it, and approved a reduction in the dose (and I had just gone up to a higher dose to cope with an increase in neuropathic pain).
The Neuro who originally prescribed Gabapentin (for the “electric shock” type pains) then said “and Paracetamol for ordinary pain” - see Karen’s first post.
