Polite ?

Why are we so polite - the MS Nurse asks how I’m doing and I give her a positive response - the Neuro asks how I’m doing and again I’m positive.
Friends and family talk about me ‘fighting’ the MS - tell me I have a sense of humour.
Why aren’t I honest with these people - I hate the MS it has bu**ered up a lot of things. I want to use the ‘f’ word when describing my MS. Aaaaaaargh!

I’m a great fan of being honest about feelings either good or bad. It might not win you friends but you’ll certainly find out who your friends are

With age, it has become easier to be direct with people. It saves a lot of time. Not rude, unpleasant, hurtful or argumentative. Polite and straight will do.

In the beginning I did the same, 16yrs in and with SPMS I tell them all the truth, why should I pretend everything is ok, when it bloody well isn’t. I’m 63, so yes with age it does become easier.

sometimes when people ask how I am doing, I reply with “do you really want the truth or a standard polite response?”
If they ask for the truth, I will give a straight answer. (I do choose who I “share” with)
All the best
