pip reconsideration

Hi,

Im going for a pip reconsideration and my mind has gone blank just thinking about how i am going to do this. Iv joined benefits and work and there info is really helpful yet when it comes to putting my issues down on paper im at a loss.

Any practical advice please on how to challenge the different activaties.

Thanks Christine

I would contact your local citizens advice centre. They will have a benefits advisor who will help you fill the appeal form out.

If you have a MS centre where you live they will have a benefit officer who can help with the forms,I did an she was very helpful and filled the form in for me based on what I said and things I would not have even thought of putting down.

Just mention every device you use or need to make your life easier from sitting down to get dressed to mat in the bath , hard to say just challenge any points you don’t agree with and don’t worry about going to a tribunal I did and won .

Hi Christine

If you write down a list of all the PIP ‘descriptors’ (they’ll be in the B&W guide), then under each one write how you actually do each of the things in the descriptor. Think about the fact that the person who looks at your reconsideration as being someone who knows nothing about you and very little about MS, explain how you actually do things with examples. As Katy said, include any tools, aids or devices you use to help you manage each thing. Look at it like you’re trying to lay out the problems you have to help the assessor to make the correct decision. Ie write it like you and him/her are on the same side, you just need to help guide them through your life.

you could get the phone number to welfare rights and ring them and ask if you could have someone help you fill the forms in.
