It seems to me that a severance payment is just a straightforward payment when your employment is ended.
A ‘compromise agreement’ is a payment given on condition that you will not pursue a claim against your employer for unfair dismissal.
If you are in this situation, I strongly urge you to seek legal advice. Sounds to me that it’s something that a lawyer, or CAB, or a shop steward should deal with on your behalf.
