Omicron and Covid19 by Prof G

This is the latest email from Professor Giovannoni on Omicron https://gavingiovannoni.substack.com/p/omicron-covid-19-update

He includes the latest research on severity between Omicron and Delta variants (ie, none). Plus the fact that Omicron has an incredibly high rate of reinfection.

As usual scary, but interesting reading. And essential for anyone on an anti-CD20 therapy (eg Ocrevus).

thanks, good info

But still 36% milder than the original.

I don’t want a big discussion/disagreement about this but:

‘Researchers at Imperial College have reported that there is no difference in COVID-19 severity between the Omicron and Delta SARS-CoV-2 variants (Ferguson et al. Report 49. 16-Dec-2021).’

Maybe you could show us the source for your statement Carraboy?

I am happy to be proven wrong if you (or anyone else) can show recent, reputable evidence that Omicron is demonstrably weaker.

Don’t know about anyone else, but I worry about my RRMS much more than I ever do about any version of Covid. Don’t get me wrong, i wear a mask, had x3 jabs and follow the guidance but i dont dwell on it. Whereas my MS is always sitting right there on my shoulder, keeping me guessing for my future…
What I’m saying is that imo, pwMS have bigger fish to fry.

I think that is based on South Africa experience, but they have a very different demographic to us - much younger and also had much higher levels of Delta not long ago, due to low vaccination levels. It is also their summer. So think that is why scientists here say we can’t base assumptions on the South African experience, they need to be working on data in the UK. Hopefully it will turn out to be milder than Delta though.

And thanks Sue for posting that link. It gives information specific to PwMS who are on MS meds which cause immunosuppression, who are at greater risk, which is so needed for people to make informed decisions. Also gives them the info on how the system is works, how to access antivirals, as currently many of the immunosuppressed are in the dark as it hasn’t been made widely available to the public (probably to ensure stocks are given to those most in need rather than the worried well!)

The information came from the doctor that discovered the strain, Angelique Coetzee. It’s been stated on numerous occasions, and also on those paid shills, the anti British ‘impartial’ BBC, with their usual negative spin. You can find it on other irreputable sites like LBC, Telegraph, daily mail, and even on the paid opinions, snopes! I prefer to stick to more honest sites though. Variants tend to be weaker than the originals, despite this not fitting the government’s and msm fear porn.

Good article in the Guardian yesterday on this question, by Professor of Epidemiology at Harvard.

Omicron is spreading at an alarming rate, and there’s no solid evidence it’s ‘milder’ | William Hanage | The Guardian

I don’t read that (removed by moderator) through principles…

More hopeful news today:

However, if far more people are going to be infected by it, given the R value 3-5, then there is going to be pressure on the hospitals.

They are actually just following the science and reporting on it. And with Covid 19 which is evolving rapidly, the scientists are working flat out to try and understand it how it is changing and how it may affect us, so we can make decisions based on knowledge.

But who need science and scientists when we have conspiracy theorists on social media beavering away at their keyboards?

I’ve watched the video, Dolores hasn’t changed my pov, in another life she’d likely be campaigning against nuclear weapons.
I guess my question would be not about the conspiracy theories but more close to home.
Do you actually have MS? I find it difficult to understand why anyone who does, knowing the difficulties it brings, would come onto a forum like this and throw insults (vax groupies) around.
Believe what you like (I do), but at least be nice.

I’m sorry you found my comments horrible, and felt the need to report each. Nice of you to start the book halfway through. Yes, I have m s, and have had the patronising replies and insults, but as I’m not a millennial, brushed then off as they’re only someone’s opinion, and therefore, don’t hurt. Originally, I was very nice. Had good mates on here, who constantly got ticked off for suggesting cannabis oil. Not the right view you see. Not pharmaceutical… years later, I’m told ‘Yes, they do help’ by my m.s nurse. So I’m cynical of trust figures. More so over this miracle jab that we must not question. The posts you reported were commenting on the contradictions of one ‘paper’. Numerous others show the same b.s. This jab isn’t a vaccine imo, and the people pushing are only complicit in the deceit and crime.

I’m sorry admin, which part of ‘Omicron is milder’ is offensive ???
It is.

Boris said yesterday that 90% of those in hospital hadn’t had their boosters… is that offensive too ?

(Not unvaxxed, Not had their boosters)

For the record, I never reported you.
Retro.

Cheers, what for this time ?

Sorry, misread your last comment.

I don’t mind the taking down of comments, its the level playing field thats always bugged me. Not having a go against you directly either…
We’ve all got this shite illness, but we all tackle it differently.
There’s no way I’m getting jabbed, they seem too desperate for it to be legit. That’s my opinion. I’ve read where the jab has kicked off m s. reactions, left one guy paralysed. Also cancer patients in remission have had it come back with avengence…
No liability either.
No ingredients.
Info locked up for 75 years…
Hard pass thank you.
