not been on for ages

Well yesterday after years of symptoms I finally get my answers I’m positive for oligoclonal bands and I’m back to see the Neuro a week Monday and finally get my life back

So what happens next??

Not a lot!

If you are diagnosed with MS, then you need to tell the DVLA and look for critical health clauses in any policies you have that might include them (e.g. your mortgage) because MS is a claimable condition. [Travel insurance and medical insurance are other things that might be affected.]

It’s a good idea to tell your employer, but you don’t have to. (An MS diagnosis gives automatic cover by The Equality Act - so your employer has to make “reasonable adjustments” to allow you to stay in work.)

You should get the contact details of your MS nurse who will be your first port of contact for advice.

If you are diagnosed with RRMS and you meet the criteria for DMDs (at least two “clinically significant” relapses in two years), then you will need to choose one and get started on that.

And that’s about it, other than telling friends and family, if you choose to.

(Remember that a positive LP result does not mean that it must be MS.)
