No medical help for MS

I was awarded enhanced PIP and full mobility when i was assessed 2 years ago. I have a year left on my claim but i have received my renewal pack. However, i have not seen much of my doctor in this time, i havent seen my neurologist and i havent even got an MS Nurse…Whenever i have a relapse, i just lock myself up at home and rest, i take herbal products and try to do pilates when i am able… i don’t see the point of hassling my GP as there is nothing he can do. Will this affect my claim as there won’t be much evidence he can provide. I really don’t think PIP people are interested in my holistic approach to treating my MS…I am really worried my payments will stop just because i dont want to end up in a hospital bed when i can rest at home…Can anyone help please

Mmm, maybe it would be an idea to get advice from the Benefits help firm, who folk extol hereabouts enormously. I think other replies may tell you more about this.

Mmmm a bit of a tricky one this

I suggest you look at either Personal Independence Payment - Citizens Advice or http://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/ the benefits and work guides are the best, but you do have to pay about £20 to get access to the full guides.

Evidence to support what you say about your condition is always useful, which is where copies of letters from neurologists etc come in handy. But if you don’t have any, then all you can do is work through the forms as best you can if you don’t have a welfare advisor (eg from the CAB) and expect to have a medical assessment.

Hi Debs,

I handed my dignity in at reception the day I got my diagnosis. And I haven’t been back to collect it.

I make sure that as many people as possible know about me and my condition. I do this because I never know when “they” will take something away. The local council abolished free parking for Blue Badges two years ago. That hasn’t stopped a local councillor asking for the local authority to pay for the tennis courts to be resurfaced though.

Yes, I did write to the paper about it. And it was published.

Sometimes we have to fight for what’s right.
