NEW DIAGNOSIS

MY HUSBAND WAS DIAGNOSED IN JUNE OF THIS YEAR, HAVING BEEN TOLD LAST YEAR THAT HE HAD HAD 2 STROKES AND HE HAD BRAIN ATROPHY, HIS SYMPTOMS SINCE LAST YEAR HAVE GOT WORSE AND WORSE TO THE EXTENT HE IS UNABLE TO USE HIS HANDS, HIS VISION IS WORRYING TO SAY THE LEAST AND HE HAS HAD NUMEROUS FALLS, BUT I DONT SEEM TO BE ABLE TO GET THE GP TO LISTEN, WE HAVE WAITED 12 WEEKS UPTO NOW TO SEE AN MS CONSULTANT BUT FEEL LIKE IT WILL BE A WASTE OF TIME, THE STROKE CONSULTANT THAT WE SAW LAST MONTH SEEMS TO THINK HE HAS HAD IT ABOUT 15 YEARS BECAUSE OF ALL THE OTHER HEALTH PROBLEMS HE HAS HAD…BUT NOBODY IS REALLY TELLING US ANYTHING.

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH DIAGNOSIS?

The road to a dx of MS is a long road. When you get to see the MS consultant he will have tests done, like a MRI, VEP, nerve conduction tests and maybe a Lumber puncture. Until all these tests are done the consultant will be able to give a dx. I have had MS for over 40 years but not actually dx until 2001, thankfully things have changed and it is a little quicker now. Hope this helps.
