I am still waiting for to start medication for it and I don’t know how it will help. At the moment I can still do my things but I get really tired and have pain every day. I and really worried and scared.

Hi Catia, I’m so sorry to hear about the rough time you’re going through - horrible to be in pain every day and have such a massive life change with no warning. Can see why it’s really scary and uncertain right now for you and your family.

You’re in exactly the right place on these forums - there’s so many people with a range of experiences with MS, and I’ve learned so much on here. The MS Society website is also great. My current symptoms are mild right now (pain in my right hand occasionally), but I’ve found keeping cool and getting as much sleep as humanly possible to really help me. I use a special mouse for my office job which also helps massively.

Definitely have a search through previous posts - I’m sure you’ll find similar symptoms and it’s helped me feel less alone. Which medication are you likely to start? I’m on Kesimpta currently. I don’t know if DMTs help with symptoms, but psychologically it helped me to start taking something which I know should prevent as many future relapses as possible - feel very lucky to live in a time where so many more meds are available for MS.

I am sorry about your diagnosis. That is always tough news to get, as most of us on here know all too well. It’s a big shock and it takes time to get over the initial impact and there isn’t really any easy way of doing that - it just takes time. All I can say is that the usual routines of life go on regardless and that something that feels like normality will re-establish itself in time. The new normal is never the same as the old one, but it might be closer than it feels to you right now.

The treatments available le for RRMS are really very good and effective. They can stop even very active RRMS in its tracks, and it is always good for morale to get a treatment plan in place and get started.

Hi, Mackenzie, very happy that you are been not as bad. In the moment i am still waiting for the MS Specialist Nurse to call/ meet with me to talk me throug all the possible options i have, for now i am in paracetamol, ibuprofen and yesterday i was prescribed codeine, because the pain eases for no longer then 2h and here they are again.

My diagnosis is very recent, but symptoms, i am having them for a while because i was submitted to several MRI’s and the lesions remained the same i had to do a Lombar Puncture and then was when I got the diagnosis. I Have been very scared about what will come my way, it’s a big change in my and everybody’s life with an MS diagnosis I think. I Have been trying to keep calm and I am still working, and I want to keep doing it until I can’t anymore, but is been hard to don’t think too much about it. Hope that you keep feeling okay. Thank you for replying to me, speaking with different people that has different symptoms I think that will help me understand mine a bit. Great to hearing from you!

Hello @catiammldias . Really sorry to hear about your troubles.

A diagnosis of MS is scary but doesn’t necessarily mean that you are quickly going to experience massive changes in your life . In my case I do have significant problems with walking and I also experience bladder urgency and some constipation but , and it’s a big but, these problems have developed over a period of getting on for 20 years and for the first 5 years or so I carried on as normal.

Things can move slowly during diagnosis and decision on treatment - the NHS just doesn’t have enough MS Neurologists or MS Nurses - but sooner or later you will be given a list of MS disease modifying drugs to choose from . In the meantime It’s worth looking through the list of drugs on the Society’s website .

In terms of pain , none of my business but I was wondering what sort of pain and where it is . I hope that the link below to the MS Society’s section on pain and potential treatments is of use.

All the best

> A lot of people with MS experience pain at some time. It varies from person to person and over time, but drug treatments and other therapies can help you cope and find MS pain relief.
