Had a spect scan done before xmas and had to go back for results today, the reason they did it was because of really bad memory, when I got there today they said that there is no signs of dementia but have confirmed fibromyalgia which I knew anyway, the other thing they said which knocked me for six was that the scan was showing up patches as they put it, when I said whats that mean they said I need to see neurologist asap to get it checked as it can be signs of MS, it floored me, I have no one to talk to I do have an amazing husband but I dont want him worrying, dont even really know what I want to ask, whatsthe patchy bits of the brain mean. Sorry for long post, emotions are everywhere.
Not sure about the scan but patchy white bits could be demialation think that’s how you spell it. But it could also be some many other things too anyway I’ll bump you up to see if anyone can shed any light for you. Take care Sonia x
Hi there
Firstly, try not to panic!
Lesions (white spots) can be caused by many things, migraine, even age related changes, so not necessarily MS.
Second, who was it you saw for the results of your scan? Only a neurologist can diagnose MS, and it seems a bit harsh to have thrown that suggestion at you and left you reeling! However, I’m sure they will be writing to your GP, so why not make an appointment with your doctor to discuss it? Even if the doc hasn’t yet received the letter, you can discuss what was said, and ask what happens next.
Hope that helps a bit. Take care xx
