Hello all
I got diagnosed at the end of October and saw the MS Consultant this week. I will hopefully be starting Kesimpta soon for RRMS but he also mentioned the importance of gut and bowel health and starting the MS MIND Diet.
Does anyone follow this? I’m struggling to find lots about it but I do want to make this chance and wondered if anyone can point me in the direction of meal ideas and recipes?
Thank you in advance, Stacy

Good to hear that your neurologist talked about diet! I don’t follow the MIND diet but from the little I know about it there are similarities to the sort of diet suggested by Overcoming MS - living well with MS. I’ve been following the general recommendations on diet, exercise and stress reduction/mindfulness for years . If nothing else it keeps you generally healthy .

It might be worth looking at Food for the Brain as well for suggestions on general brain health
Thank you so much, I shall look at those bits you mentioned.
I have joined a gym so am trying to increase my exercise but struggling with neuropathic pain across the left side of my chest which is not great as that is affecting what I can do.
It’s a big learning curve but changes that I know I need to make and will.
Hi @stacypope4
I just wanted to say that my neurologist said to eat a normal healthy diet, rather than following any other particular plan.
One of my friends is also an MS specialist neurologist (I am very lucky!) and she told me that there is no strong evidence for any particular kind of diet when you have MS, other than a normal healthy diet and that reducing processed food is probably a good idea.
I hope that’s helpful. I haven’t heard of the MIND diet.
Wishing you all the best
Alison

Thank you for your reply. I have 2 autoimmune conditions and am struggling to lose weight even in a calorie deficit so he spoke to me about gut and bowel health so I think they will be worth a try as the conventional ways aren’t helping me, lol.
