Moving for better health care

Hi All,

I’m new in here but not new to MS. I was dx RRMS in 2018, but in the last 3 years my health has declined.

This is due mostly because I’m in a high conflict custody battle with my ex husband.

Because he took the kids and I’m on disability my income dropped significantly, and I’m being kicked out of my home of 5 years. Family court is very slow here and I struggle with being positive amidst this situation and the overwhelming pain I feel daily.

My neurologist is about 200kms away from me as well as in the city where medical professionals are trained. I’ve decided to move in order to prioritize my health so I will be around for my kids.

I’m wondering if there are any programs out there to assist in my situation? I live in Canada and am willing to write any type of paper I need to.

Thank you for reading this far

Amanda

Hi Amanda :waving_hand:

You have got a lot on your plate to deal with

Almost all of the members here are in the UK so, it may be better for you to seek advice in Canada or from folks in the US close to the border.

We have forums here for a lot of different things. Do you have anything there maybe like Mumsnet or for divorced parents. Perhaps even an MS forum or local group where you may be offered more relevent tips and info for your region?

Moving closer to your healthcare provider may actually be not too bad an idea. Especially when you live in such a large country. It could also give you a fresh start that may help.

Good luck and, Best wishes :+1: x

Jon.
