In response to those who have requested Lighter threads, I thought I might share this. It is the first non MS related poem I’ve written for a very long time.
A TRIP OF LIGHT
At play in a candle’s light
Split into a thousand shafts
Each one has a thousand more
I travel all in a blink of an eye
Everywhere soft colours spread
I could just swim in their glow
Or let them flow and touch me
Immersing me inside of their warmth
Watching living shadows dance
A once performance ballet
Premiered just for me alone
In my very private theatre
Ever changing phantom shapes
From a magic simply flame
So capricious is its form
To bring echoed reflections in my mind

Thank you Steve
Appreciate you sharing this.
Here is a little bit from ‘Immortality’ by Rudy Francisco…
I wanna write love poems so sweet that the ink on the paper attracts honeybees.
Great stuff Steve,
In order to continue with the mood lightning I will share one of my favourite poems from the masterful Wendy Cope (I reckon AD might like this one)
The Uncertainty of the Poet
I am a poet.
I am very fond of bananas.
I am bananas.
I am very fond of a poet.
I am a poet of bananas.
I am very fond.
A fond poet of ‘I am, I am’-
Very bananas.
Fond of ‘Am I bananas?
Am I?’ - a very poet.
Bananas of a poet!
Am I fond? Am I very?
Poet bananas! I am.
I am fond of a ‘very.’
I am of very fond bananas.
Am I a poet?
Wendy Cope
Sorry if this is too surreal or frivolous
Mick
I love this, thanks Mick, and of cause Wendy.
