Ladies question...

Hi Everyone as usual haven’t been on here for quite a while and now asking a question.

As the title says, this is a question for ladies really. I am 51 and have been pre-menopausal for a few years with typical systems on and off including irregular periods and hot flushes. I also changed to Fingolimod last June and been happy on it.

I was ill in January followed by a MS flare up and ‘knock on effects’ such as low potassium levels, laboured breathing and from which I’m still feeling the side effects from regarding stamina and fatigue, but I am improving bit by bit. However, during the last 6 weeks or so I have had a major increase with the ‘hot and cold flushes’, more so at night, but also during the day and the heat doesn’t last long, but can cause me to feel quite nauseous. My period is late again and my cognitive behaviour is worse. And so this is where hopefully you ladies can give advise please?

I know hormones change and side effects can be horrible and that’s all it need be? Will see GP in couple of weeks, but for those of you that are at ‘that time of life’ and also on Fingolimod, can you tell me if you have experienced the same? I’m wondering if it is purely the menopause or could it have anything to do with the medication??

Thanks for reading. Wish you all as well as you can be.

Regards Equus

Might you consider trying HRT for a bit to help find out what is causing the trouble? If the symptoms go away on HRT, you’ll know it was probably your hormones. If they don’t then they are probably something else.

Hi there, I am long past menopause and not on your treatment but have the same problem.

People tell me I turn instantly crimson and I certainly feel hot and nausea is miserable…gp etc cannot find a reason for this so it is probably just another of the wonders of ms.

For me and othets I,ve spoken too we all agree worse than menopausal flushes.

Sorry I cant be more help but this will bump you back to the top and others may have more info ref Fingolimod

Hope you soon feel better
