Hi All, so i had a seizure a couple of years back, the seizure was provoked so need to worry there.
My neurologist noticed that i had tremors, shocks to the body, pain and fatigue and so sent off my bloods to Oxford for testing.
They can back negative luckily but he did say i was paper thin to having full on MS but i will suffer some of the symptoms. So i have to have blood tests taken wvery 3 years now.
How does everyone deal with this or any suggextions as theres alot i cannot do anymore due to my hand tremors, balance due to legs trembling etc etc.
If anyone can offer me a 37 year old what asvice you can please, i know im young still and i want to have a family i have lovely suppoetive wife but im scared to have kids due to my history and family genetic history.
Thank you and nice to meet you all
Hello,
I had a brain seizure a few years ago too, but I don’t think it’s directly linked to MS.
Your neurologist is being cryptic saying that you having MS is paper thin?
Not sure if MS can be inherited, it shouldn’t deter you from starting a family.
I think for helpful advice you might want to call the MS helpline on 0808 800 8000.
Best regards,
JP
Hi Adie 116. Not sure that I can offer advice as such but: I was in my early 50s when I was diagnosed, I’m a male and am guessing that you might be a female? By and large, in my late 60’s I’m not too bad and I’m daring to think that I might escape the worse that MS can bring. It’s a highly individual thing though so it’s possible that if you do get MS you could be affected badly but might not be - basically don’t assume the worse . There is an increasing number of disease modifying drugs and with lots of luck some remyelination drugs might not be too far away ( as in not too many years).
I can’t recall the details but there is a fair bit of information around on pregnancy and MS that is worth looking up.
I think if I were you I would look at things like the website or book of Overcoming MS . It doesn’t suggest cures or anything like that so much as following a brain/CNS friendly regime of diet ( low saturated fats, high unsaturated fats) exercise, relaxation/ meditation, Vitamin D. The diets aren’t puritanical so don’t be put off by any thoughts of extreme diets.
Also follow news , research findings etc in this or e.g the MS Trust website and basically follow all the recommendations etc as if you did have MS. ( at the very least it will give you a healthy lifestyle!).
