Hello all,
I have recently had to change jobs and i am now working at a local, Ofsted registered childminders.
This childminders is in her house and as part of employing me i have had the normal DBS check but because she’s Ofsted registered, Ofsted need to supply a letter of good conduct for me aswell.
I recieved a phone call a few weeks ago from someone from Ofsted who started asking very intrusive questions about my MS. I was taken aback and later emailed to ask how they knew about my MS.
I was told that they ahd contacted social services who had disclosed thia information. In short this jow means that I need to get my GP to write a short report about my health and submit a self declaration. I have never met my current GP as my previous GP retired recently.
Also, what other information do Social Sevices hold abot people’s health? I was diagnosed at 16 and Social Services would have been notified in relation to my schooling but i left high school 20 years ago! Do they keep personal details that long?
I have submitted a Freedom of Information request but I’ve been told it could take 2 months for them to reply.
Im now acared to go to the GP for fear of any repercussions on my employment prospects.
I have worked in eduction for about 12 years and never had this experience before. I feel so violated.
Thanks,
RoaryL
