Homophobic

That should have been wonderful and beautiful …

The point of my post is that if you think the right to marry is a right that should be reserved to heterosexual people, you think that homosexuals should not have the same rights as heterosexuals then yes your believes are homophobic. I don’t know what the word is for someone who is afraid of people with progressive/chronic/autoimmune diseases but as it is unimaginable to have basic human rights not being extended to someone on account of illness, it is impossible for me to see the sense behind preventing any human being any human right.

You’re right Rebecca, I shouldn’t have used the term “civil” when referring to marriage - my point was if you get married you could include elements of your faith and be married by a priest / rabbi/ vicar etc because the churches recognise the validity of the union you want to create. Gay and Lesbian couples do not have that choice - even if their minister supports it.
