Hi all. new diagnosis after a very long wait. Now waiting on another mri to see if any new appears. Does anyone know How long it will take to start treatment. And does anything help with the constant feeling of tiredness. Not that this is the only thing. Would be excellent if the sharp stabbing pains in legs would ease up. Or numb fingers or any of the long list would be great. So to babble
Hi Marke, Depending on which type of MS you have, will determine which DMDs, if any, you could be put on.
It took 22 years to get my diagnosis…too long for any treatment, apart form those to help ease some symptoms.
There doesnt seem to be anything much for tiredness. I tried amantadine to no avail.
Have you got an MS nurse to talk to about symptom relief?

I have read people been waiting years for diagnosis. Nothing from nurses as yet was 2 weeks ago today he said ms. No idea what to do next or if he expects me to wait till after the next mri
For fatigue, maybe look into HIIT (high intensity interval training).
I tried it the other day, by chance. I’ve been struggling with severe fatigue, which seems to be primarily neurological fatigue, but also probably some depression-related fatigue. I’ve been doing on and off a type of HIIT, by trying to walk fast, because my knees are knackered and won’t tolerate jogging. My fast walking isn’t fast enough though, because of my knees so I don’t really hit HIIT levels.
I made myself do the usual walking HIIT, but it made no difference to fatigue. Then, about 10 minutes later had a mad idea to try to do some jumps on the spot, as with my heavy legs that is very difficult, just to see compare to see if it was worse than normal, or any change. I then decided to try running on the spot, which is a bit easier on my knees, not for very long but enough to really get the heart rate and breathing rate up, like real exercise. I noticed that my ‘head’ fatigue was improved shortly after and the effect persisted for the rest of the evening. The ‘lead’ legs were no lighter, and the knees were not impressed.
That got me to look up to see if there was a benefit to neurological fatigue with aerobic and / or HIIT type of exercise. Seems that HIIT is the one that is the most effective.
Obviously it depends on mobility and other factors as to whether would be suitable. I’m trying to figure out what exercise may be OK with my knees (and am about to see a physiotherapist for exercises for my knees anyway).
Dont think i could muster the energy after work. But may give it a try. Cheers for info
