Hi Katy and welcome to the gang. I hope we can help support you and make it a bit easier. We all know what it’s like hon and it really helps to know you are not alone. As things are so upsetting right now, why don’t you give the helpline a call. They are people who really understand and you don’t need to call to ask anything in particular…you can just call and tell someone how you are feeling. It really helps a lot. Holding it all inside makes it harder. Come on here to tell us anything. We are a great little gang and you’re very welcome and will soon know how much it helps. We’re all here for each other. Take care and looking forward to getting to know you better. Pat xx
PS…helpline number at the bottom of this page. Xx
Hi Katy, Welcome to the board , as everyone has said it takes time to adjust, but you will. Pat is right it can help so much to talk things through with someone and the people on the helpline are very kind and friendly. We’ve all been through this so we know how hard it is for you at the moment. Come back and let us all know how you’re doing. Very best wishes, Nina x
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome .I have to go to an appeals tribunal in 2 weeks for the PIP payment any help with what to expect would be very gratefully received. i think a lot of my worries about everything at the moment stem from that. On ESA at the moment but still havent been seen by anyone it is now 15 weeks since i claimed so i expect i will have to go through all that again, i really do wont to go back to work but have spent all my working life in the catering industry and dont know anything else , i was let go from my job in november having been of sick since july they couldnt offer me anything else was strugling along until the hot weather came and that was it wiped me out and not really been able to get back to any comfortable happy life since ,my husband is great and very supportive and would be lost without him and the puss in a way i am glad we dont have children but iam sure they cope with things very well. Thank you all again
Hi Katy, and welcome.
Feel free to rant and bluster away, as I’m certainly guilty as charged on that count.
Re your work in catering, has MS affected your grip and fine motor skills with your fingers, if you don’t mind me asking? It’s just that I enjoy cooking but have had to modify which implements I use and how I use them. I know how frustrating it can be.
Hi Katy, hello & welcome
Clucker, I had a bit of an incident (could have been a nasty accident) due to my extremely heavy and non-reactive right leg, the other day.
I was trying to step out of the bath after a shower, so holding the washbasin, I chucked my towel on the foor and stepped out with my left foot then realised I was a bit wobbly and didn’t fancy scraping my right shin up the side of the bath… and I generally seem to fall face first, when I can’t shift my right leg, so I turned round thinking I’d lift my right leg with my arm… but then I wobbled… and naturally grabbed the shower screen…which swung outwards splashing water and knocking over the shelving unit and everything on it… amazingly, I found myself sitting sideways on the lavatory!
So, that could have been a LOT worse! My poor husband came rushing up the stairs to check on me hearing the crashing noise and couldn’t even get in the bathroom as he shelving unit was blocking the door LOL.

Hi Sonia
That was scary for both you and your husband, and these sort of things shake you up, have an easy day today.
Would it help you to have some handrails in the bathroom? Your OT could advise you on these matters, but if you dont have an OT give social services adult team a ring.
Take care

Hi Sonia
If you could get into local authority housing they help with disabled adaptations. Not sure if that is any help to you, but just a thought.
I tried my grandsons new laptop, and I thought it was awful, think that was windows 8.

Hi Paula

Look foward to seeing you on the forum.

Sonia, you should check out if your landlord can change bathroom because of your disability. Are you in private rented? Because of disability you might be eligible for social housing. Let me know if you would like more info. I used to work in social housing. Pat xx
Hi Paula and welcome. Come back and tell us about yourself. Click on ‘new thread’ to put on new post. We are a nice little gang and glad you found us. Pat xx
Hi Paula, Yes we got it! Welcome to our lovely little group. Nina x
Pat, yes we rent privately and we really do need to move this year, the house is too big for us now Hannah is at Uni. I have applied for the council waiting list at least.
