After having a really rough last 3 weeks. After a relapse that has lef me wwalking with crutches. Legs are getting stronger. Seen my GP today and he has agreed going back to work will be good for me.He suggested 3 hours a day for 2 day a week and ggradually build it up till I’m back to ful time. SSpoke to my boss and going back on Tuesday. I am looking forward to it as I am really missin the rroutine but really scared at the same time. It is a new role as the MS won’t allow me to do my previous position. I haven’t been back to work since the end of Jan. Haven’t seen the people I collapsed in front of and since they hav been told about my ddiagnosis. I agreed to them being told thought it would help my return when I was having to change positions. am now feeling sscared about having to see them for the firs time. I am feeling stupid for thinking like this but thought you would understand how I was feeling.

Hey First of all well done for taking a step back to normality. I’ve been off work for nearly 12 months I had back to back severe relapses and it really knocked the stuffing out of me. In hoping to get back soon but I’m so nervous. Good luck hope everything goes well for you x

I’m sure if they are good colleagues they will be fine, mine are brill…tend to dodge the subject sometime but think that’s cos they worry about how I feel. But all in all my return went well and I was off for nearly six weeks. Please don’t worry, it’ll do you good…I feel so much better when I work and love a bit of normality so to speak. Plus love my job apart from the paperwork but please think positive. You’ll get there…I did a phased return …half a day for a week then my normal hours from there on which are two six hour days and two eight hour days. Good luck hun xxx

Hi, well done for deciding on a phased return to work.

You`re bound to feel a bit anxious. Particulalry as you`re going to a new position.

I hope everything goes well for you.

Look at it this way.

You only have to see the people first once. If that makes sense. Tuesday might be a bit odd but by Wednesday it will be old news when folks see that you are not foaming at the mouth or falling over every 2 minutes.

Expect all the daft questions from people who think that MS is terminal and others who think it’s ME. You are very brave and I hope it all goes well.

Jane

Well done Barney Owl, it takes courage to return to normality, and as the others have said after a couple of days no one will be afraid to approach you and the subject of MS. In fact you could enlighten them of the joys of it and.how they could help. I wish you the very best and applaud your decision, good luck and please let us know how it goes. Janet x
