Hi @whammel Well foot drop isn’t something I suffer with, I’m a full time wheelchair user now, but I’ve always said you find some interesting things out, so I thought I’d give this a watch and it’s an amazing little video, some hope for the people that do have to contend with this, actually I found it quite emotional, that guy,he was so bloody grateful and quite rightly, to get some level of freedom back must be amazing, so thanks whammel, long may you continue to put some interesting info on here and if anybody reads this, give it a watch, if nothing else the scenery is amazing.

Hi @whammel could be a great development for the NHS, just hope it’s not just going to be “unisex” for cost with the NHS, definitely need more male and female styles!

I reckon anything, unisex or not, would be great to try. I wonder how long it will be before it’s generally available, even at a cost?

@Moirah I get where you are coming from, I was thinking from a pure selfish point of view.
I wear dresses for work and as such don’t wear my FES during work time,only evening/weekend (wear foot drop strap orthotic at work) - this is because of the set up of the NHS FES is not set up for women’s dresses with the wires having to get to the control unit. I would need (or prefer) a more softer feminine look in the shoe, but again that’s a selfish wish on my part. I get why others would be happy either way

@cavworld are you able to get a wireless FES? I got one on the NHS because even the professionals couldn’t reliably find the correct placement for the electrodes! They said it kept moving! The wireless one is so much more convenient but unfortunately it doesn’t always work well for me.

@Moirah unfortunately not in my trust, I did ask but they can offer one where the unit attaches to the ankle but still wired, but that wouldn’t help either. Sounds like I’m complaining but I am genuinely grateful I have got a FES, and since my foot drop kicks in later in the day after several steps, having it for the evening works.
I’m sorry to hear, you have intermittent success with yours, sounds like the footwear would suit.

I’m still very lucky in that I don’t have any physical problems so far.
What I take from that video is Andy’s determination to not let his MS break him down. I know it’s not that simple for all of us but, I found him quite inspirational
