Hello all I am new to this forum, I am a male 59 years old nad have mild symptoms for a few years, however over the last few months, I am really suffering, firstly it started with the innability to swallow, now I have intentional tremors and spasms, my walking has become bad and need to use a walking stick, letely I had to be checked by optician as my left eye is really bad, even using glasses I still get double vision, I suffer with cluster headaches, my main problem is extreme fatigue.
what I would like to know is it possible at my young age to have MS?
ps forgot to say I have speech and memory problems too
Hi Andy, I’m a spring chicken a bit like yourself, mild symptoms for years but over the last two years things took a turn for.the worse and its currently being asessed. One thing I have noticed is that there a lot of older people suffering too and ms. isnt confined to only younger people. Your symptoms are a little different to mine but also very familiar. So yes its possible at your tender age to be diagnosed with ms. Good luck for the future Andy. Frank.
Even a spring chicken of 59 can find he has MS, yes, but it is only one of a very long list of things that go wrong with a person. You do not say whether you are diagnosed (I assume not), or even under investigation. One thing’s for sure, you need to get to the bottom of whatever is the matter, so if you have not yet been to the GP, I would urge you to do so. Forgive me, please, if I am making far too many assumptions about your circumstances, but it would be a terrible waste of sweet life if you were tormenting yourself witht the idea that you have something seriously the matter if, in fact, you have no need to worry. Some people are inclined to harbour unfounded but horrible secret fears for years (I am one of them, I’m afraid, so I speak from sad experience) but once one plucks up courage to share one’s worries with the doctor, they can lose much of their power to wreck one’s peace of mind. If you have not yet shared you concerns (and they need sharing for their own sake - there’s something amiss, and you need to find out what) then please try to do so soon. Alison x
I’ve nothing to add to the excellent replies you’ve already had, but wanted to say that I hope you push your GP for a referral and start on the road to some answers very soon.
For my burning feeling in my lower extremities my GP has given me GABAPENTIN , for the tremors I take PRAMIPEXOLE it is an anti-parkinsons it sort of works but not for long, the Gabapentin does help, I just put up with tingling and numbness in feet and hands, the same as the spasms.
I havee been referred to see a neurologist and am awaiting an appointment, my other health related problems are worsening depression~sertralin, heart disease~several tablets for angina etc. OSA ~ no medication just night time use of a CPAP machine. Fibromyalgia~ painkillers
As you can see I am a really healthy person , however upbeat about almost anything, I will deal with the hand dealt for me as and if it does happen.
Once Again thanks for your kind replies, I am relly open to any help re; the extreme fatigue I get- mostly evening times when to be honest I have,nt done much all day,…take care and bless you all, it’s very kind as you all have your problems and are helping me out…it does prove there are angels around…Andy x
Hi Andy, welcome to the site! I’ve found since being on here that MS symptoms can literally strike at any age it seems, I’m 24 and never thought it could be applicable to me, but it seems it may be. Hope you get some answers soon!
Once again thanks for the lovely answers, its always nice to know that there is support out there, like anyone that is like me awaiting to see a neurologist good luck and I hope you get the answers you need.
It seems this may be a bit long winded however I suppose they must be sure that there is no other issues/ilnesses that might be present, I wonder for those that did get a diagnosis , how long it took?
I hope you all had a good weekend , here not too great , absolute fatigued today and my legs are pretty bad.
Hello. all just to let u all know I have my Neurologist. appointment. in about 3 weeks. i will post more as i find out what’s. going on thanks for all your kindness . Andy
