Dog allergy after treatment?

Hi all

This is quite random, but I had my first Ocrevus treatment just over a month ago and noticed that the last three dogs I’ve said hello to and given cuddles, afterwards my eyes have gone really puffy, started itching and watering along with some sneezing.

I was lucky enough to have an amazing for in my life for 15 years until 2021 :smiling_face_with_tear: and never experienced any kind of allergy.

As a child I had a similar reaction with cats, but this seemed to go away as I got older.

After speaking to Dr Google, it said this can happen with ‘immune system changes’ which made the think is this related to my B cells being depleted?

I would be interested to hear thoughts or if anyone has experienced the same.

Hi Dave.

That does sound feasible as the medication is making a change to the immune system :person_shrugging:

Hopefully that’s a rare side effect because my dog is my favourite thing. Ah well, I’ll just have to accept it if it happens when I start my DMT :+1:

Thanks for the speedy reply Jon!

I am going to still go say hello to dogs, but I might take the Loratadine each day now, as I am also one of those people who had never suffered with hay fever and then a few years ago it started!

Lets hope it is indeed rare and doesn’t affect you with your dog :dog_face:
