Before I went into hospital with the numb lifeless leg at the beginning of September I had no other symptons, I had a three day course of IV steroids which helped a lot with the leg but since I have had multiple other symptons which come and go ( some for a few hours, others last for days, or are still ongoing) Is this ‘normal’? Is anything ‘normal’
I’ve started to make a list of them all ready for my Neuro appointment (29th Oct). My GP seemed vague when I spoke to him about them - they include Fatigue (horrendous, like nothing I’ve ever felt before), Spasms in neck muscles, burning pain in my finger tips, a numb fizzy tongue and a few numb patches on my face?
In my experience, spasms tend to come and go and sensory symptoms tend to be there all the time, but worse and particularly noticeable in the evening or when you’re quiet (less distraction), but the odd one will come on for only a short time and then disappear again. For me, fatigue is there constantly during a relapse although it will vary in intensity from terrible to absolutely horrendous during the day. But we are all different!
GPs do tend to be vague when asked questions about neurology - it’s usually because they haven’t a clue! (Most GPs know squat about it - they often only studied neurology as a module during their medical degree, which was donkeys ago!)
Thanks once again Karen… I think that somewhere in the dark recesses of my brain I knew it already. The numb fizzy tongue and neck pain had already happened before - I went to my GP with it back in May and have since been told that the Dr I saw back then had queried MS, but the symptons cleared, so I didnt follow up and neither did he ~ until I practically crawled into the surgery with my lifeless right leg.
Fatigue is the pits! It’s a feeling I am finding so hard to cope with. I’m usually always on the go and rarely sit or lie down during the day. Now I am truly having to pace myself.
