Hello
I am after some advice on peoples on here and what Dmd’s that they find are the best to take please?
I have MS and I am currently on ‘Tecfidera’ however I am finding that my ‘Fatigue’ levels have gotten a lot worse since being on this
I have been on this Dmd for a while now so I know that this is probably nothing to do with the initial ‘side effects’ that come with starting a new Meds etc… I guess I am looking for a Dmd that while you are on it, actually helps with stopping or lessening the sodding Fatigue
Any advice really appreciated and thank you for all replies
Regards
Anna
Hi Anna
I don’t think it’s necessarily a question anyone can answer.
Basically, DMDs aren’t designed to affect fatigue levels. So chances are there isn’t one that will do what you want. A DMD is designed to reduce relapses. That’s it. If you get any positive effects, then that’s a lovely bonus.
Some people have reported positive results from Tysabri. But in order to qualify for Tysabri, you should have ‘failed’ on a first line DMD. That means have had relapses whilst on Tecfidera.
You’d need to talk to your neurologist / MS nurse to get some feedback as to what drugs are available to you, what side effects and any positive effects each might have.
Meanwhile, maybe you should think about fatigue management rather than what drugs can lessen the fatigue. See the MS Trust book on fatigue: Shop - MS Trust

I am not aware of fatigue being caused by Tecfidera. It is certainly not listed as a known potential side effect.
However, myriad other things, not least of all MS, this time of year and simply not drinking adequate amounts of water (whcih we are all surprisingly prone to doing during the cooler months) most certainly are.
If you have acquired a tolerance to Tecfidera (ie. no serious or sustained flushing, stomach pains etc) then my advice (if that is what you seek) is to stick with it and consider factors other than your current DMD as being the culprit of your current malaise.
All the best.
