Poor Don, its sounds like you had a nightmare I always dreaded taking the children for shoes, the shops were always busy and you would find that they didn’t have the size in the shoes Molly wanted. Will you have to have some specially made Don? you cant go out in the cold weather with velcro slippers, however fancy they look! Velcro is good though i find it very handy except when i’m dressed up and going somewhere special…my wheelchair has a cushion fastened on by velcro and it always ladders my tights!

Oh dear Don, nothing is easy is it? You will need a good pair for outside though, slippers won’t be warm enough. What about Google surely there must be someone doing specialised shoes?

Velcro is good, but like Michelle it can snag your clothes when you’re in a wheelchair. Hope you find something suitable.

Hello Don.

That’s very worthy of you to go shopping. Next stop, the supermarket? I have swelling in my feet. They are like balloons. Hopefully my riser/recliner will be here soon. I also have a leg brace thing but I don’t know where it is. More blogs please.

Best wishes, Steve.

Cheers folks I ended up with some via the web. We had made a conscious decision to support physical shop what with trying them on etc but fell at the first hurdle. After three real shops not being able to help the world wide web did the job and the leather shoes were cheaper than the slippers!

I know shops have to make a profit but come one? It seems shops will all be seeing a huge hike in business rates so expect more gaps in the shopping parades.

XXX Don

I’m glad that you got some in the end Don. As much as I like supporting the shops when your in a wheelchair shopping can be daunting. I am full of enthusiasm till i get in the shops and often once there i start to panic… the lights the high shelves and the noise as well as having to make decisions… its too much for me.

Glad you got there in the end. I doubt I’ll really need any shoes for a good while. I bought a few pairs of Hotter shoes whe I was still working and I’m hardly likely to wear them out now! It’s funny, my Mum bought some, along with my order when they had a 3 for 2 offer on - she actually wore them out and has bought two more pairs since!

I had to laugh Sonia…my husband is quite relieved that i haven’t got an excuse to buy new shoes…i just don’t wear them out anymore, although one plus is i can get away with high heels in fact shoes i couldn’t wear because they were too high i have now retreved them from the back of my wardrobe…who says you can’t look good in a wheelchair!
