I have recently been diagnosed with Devics (Transverse Myletis) and I am struggling to get any ‘straight’ answers from anyone medical…only that it is part of the ‘MS Group’ and although has the same symptoms as MS, is treated differently and not curable.
I have had one relapse and have now been put on a drug to supress my immune system with the possibilty of having Plasma Exchange in the future if the current medication does not work.
Is there anybody that can give me any advice or indications of what I can expect with this condition going forward?
I can’t help, but am replying before your post falls off the front page, in the hope that others who share your dx might see your post.
I have been tested to exclude the possibility of Devic’s, as people with a pattern of symptoms that could point to either condition tend to be. Mine is just garden-variety MS, though.
I don’t know much about Devics disease. What I do know is, its actually Neuromyelitis Optica. It attacks myelin cells in spinal cord and/or optic nerves. This causes optic neuritis and/or transverse myelitis.
