I have just had a contrast MRI, i have been waiting for a diagnosis for over a year now. Do these help to diagnose?
hi foxygirl
if you’ve been sent for a contrast MRI there’ll be a good reason.
i think it shows old lesions as well as more recent ones (but i may be wrong).
once the radiographer has written the report, your neuro will be able to get on with your diagnosis.
try to relax meanwhile.
its a very stressful time being diagnosed and stress is the enemy!

Hi Foxygirl
A contrast MRI may help in the diagnostic process. The gadolinium contrast helps to show up lesions. But your neurologist will use a whole load of tools to diagnose MS or otherwise. They’ll use your history, symptoms, physical exam, MRI, possibly a lumbar puncture and/or VEP (Visual Evoked Potential test).
So, I’m afraid, it’s more waiting for the neuro to make his/her diagnosis depending on the test results.
