Im enquiring if anyone else has had or having skin issues whilst on fingolimod or tysabri.
Quick history -
Im 49 and was diagnosed 20 yrs ago. Been RRMS but think its borderline SPMS.
ive been on several drugs over the years but been on fingolimod for 2yrs. However i keep getting skin infections. Staph nose infection once or twice a yr ( currently have it) re accuring absess/boil, skin rashes either psoriasis or eczema or fungal plus i lose toe nails once or twice a year. Ive seen a gp and a dermatologist plus asked my ms nurse and neuro and no one seems to have any answers… its really getting me down and very tempted to come off DMT and just suck up the possible rebound to help my immune system get some sort of recovery

Suggestions or advice would be great. Thank you in advance

I am sorry that you are struggling. My skin was pretty good until I reached middle age and I’m afraid it’s all gone south from there - mysterious itchy, spotty rashes, rosacea, you name it. And foot fungal infections too and I never got those before. How’s your blood glucose control? Unusual fungal infections can be a sign that things aren’t quite right there, although I’m all fine in that department. All this coincides with being on DMDs in my case too, but in my case I strongly suspect that family history and advancing years lie at the heart of it. I would dearly love to have nice skin again, but not at the risk of letting my MS see a chink in my armour.
Sorry for late reply. I appreciate your response. However my health anxiety has brought me other issues to think about now… thank you though ive kinda just put it down to combination of Dmt and age ( peri menopausal)
