Anyone had a relapse not show on an MRI?

I had a new symptom back in May - some face tingling that lasted just under a week then resolved.

Had an MRI which didn’t show anything so no action was taken/wasn’t classed as a relapse.

Forgot about it then today the tingling has started again. If it’s not a relapse then what is it?! Or does it just not matter as much if it’s this mild/doesn’t show on a scan?

Tingling may be a symptom of relapse.
Tbh I’ve never really taken too much notice of MRI result: after having lumbar puncture many years ago, I know I’ve got MS now, that’ll never change.
If it’s a mini/mild relapse, I’m confident I can ride it out myself; I’ll just let neurology know so they can log it.
If it’s a heavy relapse, not very often and I need Prednisolone steroid then I just show up at A&E, they’ve got my history so it’s usually not a problem; they sometimes want a MRI to record.
Best regards,
JP

Not everything gets picked up by MRI.

Case study: am I having a relapse? - by Gavin Giovannoni (substack.com)

Yes. Like yours it was a mild relapse, but you know one when you feel one, don’t you? It never really got its claws in properly, so to speak, but they did an MRI anyway and the report said there was nothing to show in the places where they would have expected (on the basis of my symptoms) to see signs of activity if there were any to see. MRIs are amazing and fabulous, but they’re not perfect.
