Am I going mad?

Hi Everyone, Just had blood tests back ESR have been raised however they are ok now, so no further investigation. I have posted on here alot in the past few months. For the last 13months I have suffered from vertigo, depression, anixety, sickness, visual probs. Stiffness in my joints, chronic pain. I have had memory probs and really bad headaches.

Had balance tests came back with Baslar Migraine, MRI showed demyelation. The neuro said it could mean anything my age, headaches etc. Clinical exam proved fine not MS.

Still had all the above symptoms very easily tired, and I could sleep for hrs. Saw GP in Oct my bloods ESR was raised so she had them repeated and they are fine now. But where does this leave me? She metioned CFS, so waiting on that.

She keeps going on about aniexty, 18mths ago maybe but I have learnt to calm down and try not to worry so much, but with these symptoms its easier said than done.

Has anyone else been in the same boat as me, I do sometimes I am going mad… : - ( x

What meds have you been given for your migraine? Have they worked? Are they preventing the headaches and associated symptoms? It will be far easier for the medics to work out what’s going on once your migraine is under control.

Lots of healthy people have small lesions in their brain. These can be due to many things and do not necessarily mean that anything is wrong or going to be wrong. In your case, your lesions have been explained as a consequence of your migraine. This really is a perfectly reasonable explanation, especially as your clinical exam fits with it.

I honestly think that the best course you can take is to accept that you do not have MS. The evidence suggests that it is not MS, but if it is, then it will show itself at some time in the future. Worrying about it constantly will do you more harm than good and it will probably never happen!

Focus on getting the migraine under control. You never know, that just might be what’s causing it all!

Thanks Karen, I am on beta-blockers. Been on them now for 8weeks however I am still having headaches waking up with them, in pain with stiffness. I should stop thinking of my symptoms and they may go away.

If you’ve tried them for 8 weeks with no/minimal change then they aren’t working. You need to try something else and there are several alternatives. I’m rather disgusted with your GP for not already suggesting it! Please ask to be referred to the headache specialist if your GP won’t do anything.

No wonder you’ve been worried - on meds that are supposedly helping, but still having loads of symptoms. That would make anyone anxious!

It really does and all my GP says it may be aniexty. 18MTHS ago I would say Yes, but not now. The chronic pain and stiffness I have everyday is driving me up the wall, she shrugged her shoulders when I asked her what could it be.

I get pins and needles in my head and cheeks, I will go back and see someone else.

Thanks Karen
