Alpha-lipoic acid moves to next stage of Octopus trial

We’re excited to announce the interim results of our Octopus trial. Alpha-lipoic acid showed early promise as a treatment for progressive MS, but metformin did not.

Octopus is our clinical trial for primary and secondary progressive MS. Its multi-arm, multi-stage design means that partway through the trial, the team can get a sneak preview of whether each drug looks promising. This is called the interim analysis.

You can read more about this on our website: Alpha-lipoic acid moves to next stage of Octopus trial | MS Society.

And a huge thank you to anyone who’s on the Forum that may have been involved. None of this would have been possible without you.

Hi Clare, I hope you’re keeping well :crossed_fingers:

I wasn’t part of the trial but, I took an interest from afar on part of the trial because I was on Metformin for a while.

All the best :slightly_smiling_face: x

Jon.
