age related diagnosis ,

Hallo to you all on this forum I wish you well and hope you are able to give me some advise.

My history is that in 2007 and 2017 I was diagnosed with Carple Tunnel in both hand, right one was worst than the left.I was told I could have an operation on myright hand but the outcome might not make much of a diffrence. So as I was wwwwworking I decided not to go ahead. Nothing else was offered to help.

Im now 62 years young not working due to other health issues but this is what I have been puttig up with for al least 10 yearsn

I started getting numbness in both hand as sooon as I start to use them as I am typing this on my laptop, the last two months its been every day all day. Also gain for year i get numbeness in part of my top lip and nose which comes and goes, but last month twice my whole face became numb all day no pain just numb.

These are my main symptons, walking im normaly ok but like lst week I whent to help my mother and came back with both ankel knees and hips extremely saw and painfull this is still on gooingto day. I know I have osteoathruties in both kneew but ive lso allot of weigh over this year so me knees have been ok so I dont know if this is part of possible MS or its just my bones aching because of age.

I am currently waiting for my first appointment with a Neurologist, my concerns are if it is MS how mad are things going to get had anybody else been diagnosed at the same age as me,

Any help with be greatfully be appreciated, best wishes to you all xxx

I don’t think it’s that unusual to be diagnosed at our age. I was dx 20+ years ago, but if it does turn out that you have MS, you’ve probably had it a while too. The fact that there’s still doubt about the matter in your case can only be good news, I should think.

Thank you Alison Oct 5th will be my first visit to the Neuroligist so i guess I should wait and see.

Best wishes

I have also just been diagnosed at the age of 57, although my first episode was almost 30 years ago. My symptoms have been few and far between until this last couple of years when it has just become an almost continuous barrage of pains and numbness. I too thought it could just be age related aches and pains and, although I lead a fairly healthy lifestyle, i started wondering if I was eating the wrong foods or not having enough water/fibre/fruit etc or not exercising enough. It’s been an emotional roller coaster and getting the official diagnosis was a relief in some ways. I think you, like me, are probably spending a lot of valuable brain energy trying to sort it all out. I now just have to decide on medication and start my treatment. Good luck x
