After a long three year break off DMTs (cancer treatment and operations and too low lymphocytes on Tecfidera that I was taken off it!) I am about to start Brabio injections three times a week. I’m really nervous about self injecting. Any tips? I’ll probably be doing the syringe injection and not the auto pen system. Thank you.
Hi @Cookiegirl
I am sorry to hear of your health problems which have stopped you having a DMT for the last few years. How are you feeling about starting one again?
I don’t have any tips for Brabio as I don’t take it, but I just started on Kesimpta yesterday and that uses a self injection pen thing. It was very easy to use and a nurse came out to explain everything, let me practice with a practice pen and to watch me do my first dose and talk me through it to make sure I was doing everything right.
I wonder if there would be a similar process with Brabio? Someone to sit with you and help you practice and watch you do your first dose?
Is there any particular reason that you would take it in the form you mentioned and not with a self injection pen?
I wish you well and hope you get the support you need to feel confident to inject.
I’m sure someone who sues Brabio will come along soon and will be able to give you some tips.
Best wishes
Alison
Hi Alison. Thanks for your reply. It was my MS nurse that suggested using the syringe myself instead of putting it in the pen injector. She said that the pen can be quite sudden and firm and I could control the speed the needle goes in myself the other way. In her experience she found most people prefer to do it that way. I can try both and yes, I’m waiting for a nurse to come and visit and instruct etc. Fingers crossed!
