Looking for some advice please. I have just been back to my GP after various blood test, FBC and also PANCA/, CANCA, ANA. All were fine apart from report iron deficency, which I can relate to as I have heavy periods and my diet has not been to good because of stress. My concerns are the positive PANCA. The lab have reported in the absence of MPO and PR3 (for vasculitis), likely to be clinically insignifant
I am very worried about it as I have had numerous problems, mainly from a bacterial infection (pnuemonia) and allergic reaction to daclizumab, a trial drug including severe hives and skin rashes.
Does anyone know if they hava a positive PANCA? They tell me that I do not have SLE, they have tested me on numours occasions.
Also does anyone else have any experiences on Daclizumab ?
Hi Helv, I had a positive P ANCA just once. At the time, it raised the possibility that I might have CNS vasculitis, which scared me - but as you say, this is unlikely in the absence of other abnormalities. I was retested, and all was normal. I don’t think it fixes itself, so the most likely explanation for a false positive was contamination at the lab. I later learnt it’s a very sensitive test, and unless lab procedures are absolutely scrupulous, it’s easy to get a false reading. Hopefully, that’s all that has happened, and a retest should settle the matter. Tina
Thanks so much for you comments, it has been driving me made, as I have been thinking surely I my luck cannot be that bad and have vasculitis too. My symptoms are more vasculitis type than ms though, but my neuro assures me that I have moderate relapsing ms! Now on copaxone and finding that really good thanks again Helen X
