Afternoon guys and girls. Just thought I would let you all know that I started ISC on Monday and on Monday night and Tuesday I could not get it right (got very disheartened) so as usual was up during the night (several times) for the loo. Eventually last night I got it right and had my first full night’s sleep in nearly two years. I am so happy even though it will have to be consistent for me to believe this is happening. It didn’t hurt and it wasn’t messy. Unfortunately it hasn’t relieved mobility problems (oh well, I can dream!) but at least it will help with me getting up during the night and cut down the risk of falling. Now I can concentrate on the next step, which is getting a little bit of mobility back with physio excersises. This disease is so time consuming!! Linda x
Hey LindaH
Sounds like ISC has been a terrific help to you! There is nothing more amazing than a full night’s sleep when you have been deprived of them.
By reading the posts on this website I see that MS has so many ways of affecting each person. I am fairly newly diagnosed and the list of MS manifestations I have acquired is growing day by day almost! But the lack of sleep can magnify every symptom, I know this as it’s taken quite a while to balance the problems and the pain, whilst allowing me to sleep and wake up properly!
Take care and all the best!

Hi Linda
I’ve got no idea what ISC is, but am so glad it’s working for you! Nothing worse than not having a good nights sleep!

Hi Linda Fantastic you got a good nights sleep it makes all the difference. I too ISC. Yes difficult at first but now very easy. It just takes practice so you will get there. Well done for your good night sleep Hugs Min xx
Hi Linda,
It’s great when you get the hang of it. It helps you feel back in control of your life.
Freckles, ISC is intermittent self catheterising. It helps when you are not able to fully empty the bladder.

Hi Linda H
I am so pleased for you. It makes a world of difference doesn’t it? I have been self catheterizing for a couple of years now. It took me a few days to get it right.

I use a compact mirror from boots one side is magnified the other normal and there’s a light as well. This helps a lot.
