after over 18 months telling doctor of pains in various places, seeing a physio, an osteopath (who said after 3 treatments I needed a scan and he sent letter saying so to doc) being put on HRT (even though I’d had a hysterectomy in my 20s) I was eventually referred to the MSK team. I have strange pins and needles/staticky feelings in one arm, toes that occasionally spasm and ‘stick’ in a position, the other arm that now, unless I sleep with a splint like support causes really painful pins and needles in my hand that wakes me and my body aches constantly (I could go on) An MRI of my neck and shoulder area was done and on Friday, after 5 missed calls from my doctor, she managed to catch me and asked me to come straight to the surgery. My MRI showed myelin sheath abnormalities and she had made an emergency referral to the neurology team at the local hospital. She also said if I’d not heard from them by today to call her back. I asked what it could be and she asked me to confirm I wanted to know, I did, and she said it could be MS but the neurologist would take over. This evening I have received an appointment come through and it is for 24 June 2024. I so upset, scared and worried. I have no idea now if it is MS or not and if not what is it. I know my body doesnt feel right, I’m in my early 50s but feel much much older, I ache like and in the morning sometimes even my feet hurt. I’ve left a message for my doctor but has anyone else had similar or can give me some advice?

Go back to GP and notify them about the appointment lead time - they probably don’t know. They could try referring you to another nearby NHS Trust which could be more responsive. I’ve recently changed NHS Trusts for my MS care (via the GP) and the difference is like chalk and cheese.
