A few thoughts from an oldie about ms stuff

I was diagnosed in 4 hours. I had double vision and didn’t get too stressed over it. I went to my GP clinic and they sent me for a CT scan that showed nothing. Then my GP., decided that I needed to see a neurologist and so we flew to the nearest center of excellence. I had a scan the next day and 1/2 way through they pulled me out got me to sign a consent form for gadolinium contrast. My brain had some big lesions, some active and some not.

I had another scan 8 years later with 5 more lesions and a scan this year with some big new nasty looking ones and some on my spine. I had been on Rebif for 16 years, and later Rebif and LDN. It’s a shame that my knee replacements have caused all this enbuggerance. My husband has learned to be very patient with me of late. It is humiliating to be infirm. I’ve always been of the ’ use it or lose it’ school of thought.

I just put up with the MS at the moment. By the nature of RRMS, this will pass. I would like to assure people that if they have suspected MS, then an MRI will be done. My daughter had loads of symptoms and she had an MRI that showed no lesions at all. She actually has pernicious anemia and has b12 injections. I know the uk health services can seem ubhelpful, but neurologists don’t like puzzles. They’ll test and test until they see something. But…first you must see a neurologist. This is so crucial to care and disease progression. Even a CIS gets care now. Things are so different from when I was diagnosed.thank goodness for the Barts blog. It is crucial to read up on MS and not imagine the worst. The MSS has been a great help from these pages. Val, your mod is wise and very patient. We are lucky that she is. If you want to see madness and mayhem, go to thisisms.com. I never imagined for a moment that I would have MS. Not ever. I do though. It’s horrible at times and no trouble at others. Take vitamin D, Get an MRI. There is no such disease as chronic Lyme. Veinoplasty is risky and may leave you worse off. HSCT is just too dangerous for my liking, but according to the Barts blog, RRMS can be Stopped. LDN can help but I’d not s cure, despite the claims from some. It’s worth a go, but comes with some nasty side effects like diarrhoea. Be easy on yourselves. Be kind and DONT PANIC!!xx

Thank you for that. Your measured voice of reason and sanity is an oasis. You should write more often.
