Hi everyone,
I am grateful that sites like this exist. It’s so helpful reading all your stories and experiences. I have not been diagnosed with anything yet. I have a neurologist appointment in October and I’m keeping an open mind. Recently I have had heaviness, tinging, burning in both of my arms and hands. Last month I also had a tightness on my left chest and abdomen, a numb spot on my left cheek and tingling up may face and scalp. I had vertigo for the first time for about 6 hours. My head and cervical spine MRI are negative. I have been reading about possible diagnoses and was shocked when I saw all of my strange symptoms listed.
When my first daughter was born I had HELLP syndrome (a uncommon and severe complication) and my vision was blurry for days. There were so many other more emergent things going on that no one addressed it. My right eye was painful with movement and I felt that my vision changed afterwards. I still see well but something is different, maybe dimmer? It’s hard to explain. I have had moderate eye pain with movement maybe 3 more times in the last 10 years. I’ve mentioned it to the doctor but they’ve related it to a migraine.
I became completely intolerant of cold water. If I get in a pool or ocean that’s even a bit cold my legs get deep aches, I start shaking and breathing fast and I feel so stiff. I used to love swimming and spent a lot of my childhood and adolescence in the water.
I get these pains that happen sometimes when I turn my head or look down. It feels like a super intense shooting hot pain from my skull down my neck and it tingles for a few minutes after. I told my doctor and did physical therapy, chiropractor, massage, exercise and it still happens without warning. I’m not sure if this is Lhermitte’s sign.
Twice I have gotten this strange brain fog when I get too hot. We were on a road trip in the desert and I was unable to make decisions, felt kind of dazed and nervous. This is so unlike me that my husband asked if he should take me to the hospital. I was well hydrated and no one else was feeling that way. It went away when I cooled down.
These things were always strange to me but no one every took them seriously or attributed my symptoms to my migraines. I don’t want to have MS but it would also be a relief to have an explanation for my symptoms. I’m nervous about the neurologist appointment. I don’t know how to explain all this without sounding silly.
Do these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? Has any one else had this reaction to cold and or heat? Is this what Lhermitte’s sign feels like?
Thank you for listening!
