8 years on

Hi I was diagnosed with RRMS 8 years ago at the age of 59 ,confirmed by CT ,MRI,VEP and Lumbar Puncture .
My symptoms are mild and remain much the same as when first diagnosed .I am on no treatment apart from Vitamin D daily and to my knowledge I have never had a relapse apart from some visual disturbance .

Is this unusual or not ?

It is not necessarily unusual to have mild symptoms and no relapses for eight years after being diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS), particularly if you are not receiving any disease-modifying treatment. However, the course of MS can vary greatly from person to person, so it is difficult to make generalizations about the typical progression of the disease.

It used to be referred to as ‘benign’ MS. A friend’s has remained benign for over 25 years now. He’s never been on any treatment. Possibly the only new thing was sciatica type pain which began about 13 years ago and may or may not be MS related, but hasn’t got any worse.
