4 Weeks Since Brain Scan & Still Awaiting Results!

I’ve been calling St Barts neurology dept following my brain MRI with contrast on 17.1.22. I emailed as well yesterday. The receptionist keeps telling me someone will call me back but I haven’t heard a word from them yet… I’m going out of my mind. My rib and chest pressure-like pain almost caused me to pass out the other day. I’m living with numb feet, spasms, pain, crippling fatigue and I just want to scream but I don’t have the energy.
Is there any more I could be doing to get a response? Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance.

That must be very frustrating when all you want are answers.

Are you already under a Neurologist? If so, I would suggest contacting their Secretary rather than just speaking to the receptionist. Make it clear that you expect someone to call you next week.
Unfortunately sometimes you have to be doggedly persistent with medical professionals and make a flippin’ nuisance of yourself.
Good luck.

Radiologists don’t normally communicate with the public so delay is almost certainly with the radiologist but with the Neurologist or GP who ordered the MRI.

Leave messages everywhere: MS Nursing team and the Medical Sec to your MS Consultant. Could the one person you’re waiting for be off / isolating etc. Contact others and see if they can check his/her messages.

I’m on first name terms with my Med Sec and she’s the only one who seems get anything done! As Willowtree says, be a pest

Emailing is a very good idea.

Do be aware, though, that scan results can take weeks to come back even at the best of times, and these are not the best of times with lots of people off sick etc. The trouble is that there are so many moving parts (both specialist and admin) between having the scan and getting a letter to tell you the results, and it only takes one person in the chain to be absent to build in delays.

I hope that you get somewhere soon.

Thank you all for the great advice and support. its been 1 month since my scan. The challenges I’m facing are that My neurologist is only in the hospital on Fridays, her secretary has left, the receptionist keep emailing her but told me she can’t guarantee I’ll get a call back. I’ve emailed twice myself too. It’s been confirmed that The scan was sent to her 26 days ago. Meanwhile, I’m white-knuckling life!
