Supplement Even If Not Deficient ?

Just curious but is it worth supplementing with B12 even if you dont show up as deficient after a blood test.

A sort of B12 boost if you like ?

I’ve looked at numerous health sites and the brands of straight B12 or a B Complex is huge.

I came across this write up which basically says it’s pointless adding more B12 if your not deficient ?

Its a bit of a read but halfway down it does mention MS.

they reckon what you don’t need is pee’d out.

i really don’t think the blood tests they do at the GPs are very accurate.

D3 must be lacking with this weather but i’m always told it’s fine.

i take D3 and B12 supplements anyway.

vit b12 levels are not checked in fbc-routine blood tests-dr needs to ask the lab for the levels to be checked.

will keep this brief! mum had a heart valve replacement 6 mths ago partly caused by vitb 12 deficiency for 30+yrs.

she did take a supplement but cos the gut didnt absorb it then it was of no benefit.

i take the vit b12 spray for under the tongue. sis and i have been tested due to mums issues but our levels are fine.

excess gets p’d out if not needed.

i believe (rightly or wrongly!) that the key to this ms malarkey lies within the gut.

as i said-very brief but my family are aware of how it can go wrong.

access other sources of info-a pharmacist is greatly underestimated in my opinion. homeopath reading is interesting. cranial osteopathy is fascinating.

the decisions are ultimately yours and we will never all agree! for every paper that proves the benefit of something theres one to disprove it just to make us further confused -oh the joys!

Ditto Carole!

Hi,

I’ve never been tested for any deficiency other than iron, but have still been prescribed vitimim D, I’ve wondered ever since if its having any effect, but can’t see how it can be proved one way or another.

Has anyone of you experienced any side effects after taking B12 with folate? I started this course because I was diagnosed with severe anemia, but I noticed that I became confused and had no energy to exercise. Anyways, I gave it up, as the results of the lab tests were satisfactory. My GP says that all those symptoms were related to anemia and prescribed me the best HGH supplements to regain vitality. And, you know, it actually worked. Every day progresses in a positive direction. My energy level is outrageous, and I have the impression that my intellect is clearer as well.
